The 3785B Jitter Generator and Receiver is a dedicated jitter measurement system for testing and evaluating the performance of Bell digital transmission terminal and link equipment up to and including the third level (34368kb/s or DS-3) in the digital hierarchy. The 3785B can be used in production testing, field installation and maintenance of the Bell digital transmission system including PCM/TDM transmission over cable, radio, satellite, and fiber optic links. The Jitter receiver offers six types of measurement:
- Absolute jitter amplitude in U.1 pk-pk
- Jitter peak, positive or negative
- Jitter hit count of the number of times received jitter exceeds a user defined hit threshold in U.1 pk
- Jitter hit seconds count of the number of second in which one or more jitter hits occur
- Jitter hit-free seconds count of the number of seconds which are free of jitter hits
- Maximum absolute jitter amplitude in U.1 pk-pk is held during the jitter analysis gating period

The HP 8115A is a fully programmable 50 MHz dual channel pulse generator, which delivers pulse trains with up to 32V peak-to-peak into high impedance and variable transitions from 6.5ns up to 95ms. The 8115A is suitable to operate as a standalone instrument or in an ATE system. The specifications are for a wide temperature range, 0°C-55°, useful for ATE systems. Much higher accuracy is achieved in the limited temperature range 20°C-30°; this is useful for bench-top applications which require higher accuracy. The high and low level channel is independently programmable. The output voltages can also be programmed as amplitude and offset.

The 8161A Programmable Pulse Generator is a precision 100 MHz HPIB programmable pulse generator. All pulse parameters are programmable either from the front-panel keyboard or via the bus. In addition, each parameter, value, unit, as well as any error is logically displayed on the front panel. The 8161A can output pulses at up to 100 MHz with transition times independently adjustable from 1.3 ns to 900 µs. High and low pulse levels are adjustable to +/-5 V. Pulse width range is 4.0 ns to 990 ms and pulse delay is 0.0 ns to 990 ms. Double pulse range is selectable from 8.0 ns to 990 ms. The 8161A also has normal/compliment output selection and output enable/disable functions. The DG2030 is a portable digital data generator designed for high performance and ease of use. The DG2030 is easy to use for testing and evaluating semiconductors and logic circuits, which are continually becoming faster and more
complex.
The DG2030 provides high performance and a wide range of functions in a compact package.
Any memory size from 90 words to 256 K words can be used easily, with no restrictions within that range. Each of 8 bit data channels can be assigned to any output channel. Output channels support setting of high and low output voltage
levels, rise and fall time, delay time, and output stages to a high-impedance state. The DG2030 also provides a 4000-step sequence controller, which enables the generation of not only a data pattern longer than the pattern memory but also dynamic pattern change triggered by external events.
The DG2030 provides flexible data editing functions, including word and line unit input and extended data creation functions. Also, the DG2030 provides a
rich set of functions required for system construction, such as a sequencing
function, a jump function using external input, and an inhibit function. The DG2030 includes the following features:
- Maximum data rate of 400 MHz
- 256 K word pattern memory
- Flexible sequence looping (which does the equivalent of over a billion word
patterns)
- 4 channels (with support for up to 8 channels by adding an optional module)
